INSTAGRAM TRANSCRIPT · SRT EXPORT
How to export an Instagram transcript as SRT
Paste one public Instagram Reel, post, or supported share link, transcribe it, then use SRT ↓ when timing is available; if the Reel returns text but no timing, export TXT instead and create timing in a subtitle editor.
Export in four steps
- Paste one public link. Use a complete Instagram
/reel/,/p/, or supported/share/address in the transcriber. - Check the editable transcript. Replay the Reel and correct names, numbers, or short phrases before reusing the text.
- Choose TXT or SRT. Use TXT ↓ for text only. Use SRT ↓ when the result includes subtitle timing.
- Review SRT in your editor. Import it into the video or subtitle tool you use, then check the caption boundaries against the spoken audio.
When SRT is available
TranscribeReels enables SRT only when the speech service returns timing data. When timing is missing, the page still gives you editable text and TXT export, while the SRT control remains unavailable. This prevents an empty subtitle file from being exported.
Timing availability is separate from whether a transcript has useful words. A clear spoken Reel can return text while still lacking the timing data needed to make an SRT file.
What the site puts in an SRT file
The site turns timed speech cues into sentence-sized blocks. It keeps the timing supplied with the speech result, groups words until a sentence ends, and wraps long caption text into readable lines. Review the result before publishing because a sentence boundary in speech recognition may not match the visual pacing you want.
1 00:00:01,200 --> 00:00:03,900 A caption block has a number, timing, and spoken text.
Two checks before you export
First, make sure the Reel is public and has usable speech. Private, restricted, unavailable, music-only, or unclear Reels may not produce a transcript. See the public-link checklist and the empty-transcript checklist for those cases.
Second, keep the current processing limits in mind: the fetched video must be 20 MiB or smaller, and the audio prepared by the browser must also be 20 MiB or smaller. The size-limit guide explains both checks.
Quick answers
Can I get a TXT file even if SRT is unavailable?
Yes. TXT export is available for the editable transcript; SRT depends on returned timing.
Does SRT include text visible inside a Reel?
No. The tool transcribes spoken audio. It does not read title cards, stickers, usernames, or visual captions.
Should I publish the SRT without checking it?
No. Replay the source and review names, numbers, sentence boundaries, and timing in the editor where you will use the subtitles.
