INSTAGRAM TRANSCRIPT · LINK CHECKLIST
Instagram Reel link not working?
Use one public Instagram Reel, post, or share link. If the tool rejects it or cannot return text, first check that the post opens without signing in, that the URL is complete, and that the video contains audible speech. Private, restricted, deleted, or unavailable posts cannot be fetched.
Five checks before you retry
- Use a public post. The tool can only request video that Instagram makes publicly reachable. Do not paste a link to a private account, a Close Friends post, or a post that needs an Instagram login.
- Paste the whole URL. Start with the copied Instagram address, including
https://. The current input accepts public/reel/,/p/, and supported/share/links. - Try the final destination. A share link can redirect. If copying the address from a browser after it opens gives you a full Reel or post URL, use that final address for a clean retry.
- Confirm that the post is still available. A deleted, age-restricted, region-restricted, or otherwise unavailable post cannot be transcribed through a public-link tool.
- Listen for real speech. The result is speech-to-text. Music, silence, speech buried under noise, and words displayed only as pixels in the video will not make a useful transcript.
What the tool checks
TranscribeReels fetches one public Instagram video through Cloudflare, prepares its audio in the browser, and sends that audio to Cloudflare Workers AI for transcription. There are two current size checks: the fetched video must be 20 MiB or smaller, and the prepared audio must also be 20 MiB or smaller.
Those checks explain why a public link may still fail even when it opens in Instagram. The service needs a retrievable public video and audio that the browser can prepare within the stated limits.
What a transcript will and will not contain
The tool returns editable spoken text. It can be copied or exported as TXT and SRT. It does not read title cards, stickers, usernames, or captions that are only visible in the picture. Check names, numbers, and short phrases against the Reel before you reuse the text.
Do not repeatedly submit the same unavailable link. Fix the public access or try a different Reel you are allowed to process; repeated retries cannot make a restricted post public.
Quick answers
Can I use an Instagram post link, not just a Reel link?
Yes, the input lists public /p/ post links alongside /reel/ links. The linked video still needs to be publicly reachable.
Why does a link work in my logged-in Instagram app but not here?
Your app may have access that a public web request does not. The transcriber does not sign in to Instagram for you, so it cannot use private account access.
Can the tool transcribe on-screen subtitles?
No. It recognizes speech from audio. It does not perform on-screen text extraction.
What should I try after this checklist?
Paste one clean public Reel, post, or share link into the tool. If it returns an empty transcript, use the empty-transcript checklist to distinguish unavailable speech from an input problem.
